ENGINEERING NOTE

PowerFlex migration checklist

Motor data, supply voltage, feedback, I/O, network, mechanical dimensions and parameter behavior all need to be verified together.

Checkpoints for a drive migration

  1. Record the existing drive's catalog number, voltage class and current/power rating.
  2. Extract the motor nameplate data (voltage, current, kW/HP, frequency).
  3. Check the feedback type (encoder, resolver, sensorless) against the target PowerFlex platform.
  4. Map the command and speed reference signals (analog, digital, network).
  5. Define the network profile (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus) and node addressing.
  6. Validate interlock and safety (STO / safe torque off) circuits separately.
  7. Compare mechanical dimensions (panel layout, cable entry/exit, cooling).
  8. Document parameter behavior (ramp, limits, PID, process-specific settings).
  9. Prepare the offline parameter upload and FAT plan.
  10. Build the cutover, commissioning and motor run-test sequence for the planned shutdown.
